1. It was the place where the US Navy practiced their landings for the D-Day invasion? The town held a special event in 2017 to remember the preparations and is planning for another one in 2019.
2. It is the most northern town in Cornwall and positioned between the two sandy beaches of Summerleaze and Crooklets. As well as the stunning beaches, the town benefits from a picturesque canal which flows through the centre and out to the clear blue sea. This unspoilt town benefits from a fantastic selection of independent small shops offering locally produced and crafted goods to tourists.
3. Its Sea Pool Contains over 4 Million litres of water. The high tide refreshes the water twice a day.

There’s plenty to see and do in Bude for families. The two stunning sandy beaches at Bude make a great place to enjoy a fun day at the beach. In between both of these is the popular Sea Pool (mentioned above) which is free to use! There are the iconic beach huts available to hire out as well as lovely café’s to enjoy a Cornish clotted cream ice-cream.
For more active families why not give surfing a try? With its wide mouth and North facing coast, Bude is a fantastic place to learn how to surf. There are plenty of surf instructors who can teach you and your family the basics! Don’t panic if you don’t have a wetsuit, there are plenty of surf shops to hire all the gear you would need so you can look like a pro!
For children there are plenty of green parks with great play areas to enjoy, or why not try a fun round of crazy golf located near Bude canal?

Many of the materials from the shipwreck “Bencoolen” were used to build the town of Bude, and tourists can still see some of the remains at Bude Museum.
